Manager's Welcome

Electrical Operations and Engineering (EOE) is part of Plant Operations at the University of Michigan. EOE consists of two divisions: Electrical Operations and Electrical Engineering.

Our combined staffs of Administration Professionals, Electrical Trades and Engineers; design, install, upgrade, retrofit, and maintain the electrical systems on the Ann Arbor campuses. EOE works to provide a secure, reliable and efficient electrical system and is responsible for:

  • Planning for the power needs of the University’s future growth
  • Revisions to and updating of the high voltage electrical infrastructure to insure adequate electric power for the upgrading of existing buildings and construction of new buildings
  • The planning, design, maintenance and expansion of building electrical systems and outdoor lighting
  • Planning, designing, and maintaining the electric utility metering and remote data retrieval systems
  • Monitoring building electrical consumption and promoting energy conservation
  • Support of University energy conservation and efficiency efforts on campus (i.e.: EnergyFest, Planet Blue)
