Student Opportunities in Horticulture

[image, horticulturists working] There are seven horticultural crews that maintain the University campus. Two crews are located on North Campus. One crew works in the Hospital and Medical School campus. Three crews maintain the Central Campus area. There is one crew who works at the President's House and Inglis House. Each crew consists of a Horticulturist, a groundskeeper, and 5-12 student workers in the summer season. Some students also work during the school year.

Student crews perform many tasks in keeping our Campus clean and green. These include picking litter, weeding gardens and shrub beds, watering, mulching, and raking. Other tasks may include sweeping, landscape installation, weed whipping, mowing, and shoveling snow.

[image, horticulturists working] Regular working hours are 7:00am to 3:30pm Monday through Friday. It is not uncommon for crews to work overtime after 3:30pm or on the weekend. Some crews may chose to work earlier or later hours, depending on individual zonal requirements.

If you are interested in applying for a job, apply on-line now!
